If you climb to the top of the tower of the Johanniskirche, you are immediately greeted by three ranges of hills: the Upper Lusatian Hills, the Zittau Mountains and the Bohemian Jizerske Mountains. Located on the very south-eastern corner of Saxony, the town borders with two other countries: the Czech Republic and Poland. Since tourism and trade are simply destined to flourish in such an exceptionally favorable situation, Zittau is often accorded the epithet "the Rich".
